What are generations?
Generations, in popular language, is a named system designed to classify groups of people based on their age. Each generation is unique, and all have different reasons to be named so.
Gen Z is the placeholder name for the youngest people on the planet, aged 4–24. If you were born between 1995 and 2015, you fall into this category.
The naming of this generation, “Generation Z”, or “Gen Z” for short, could be explained by explaining the previous ones.
What happened in the naming process could be explained as skipping Generation Y. First, let’s go back to Generation X. Gen X, in the media phrasing, is the generation born between 1965–1979. They were direct products of their parents entering the factory/job system the industrial revolution produced. Naturally, they followed suit. Additionaly, the Cold & Vietnam wars drafted this population into the service. They are widely regarded as brand loyal, or dependent on a single supplier of any certain product.
Generation Y, or the Millennials, are the elder Gen Z’ers. Born directly before the internet revolution, they have benefitted most off of the opportunities the internet offers, so far. They have also seen the…
